Lenora Jane (Van Rees) Mihm was born on Sept. 1929, in Pella to Joe and Meda (Graves) Paltzer.

She attended grade schools in Pleasantville and Sully. She graduated from Sully High School in 1947.

On Aug. 18, 1947, she married Vernon Van Rees at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They set up housekeeping in Sully and Lenora taught country school. They later moved to Knoxville where they raised a daughter, Bonnie Jo and a son, John Andrew.

Lenora worked at the Maple Buffet in Knoxville and Shorty's Steakhouse in Pleasantville.

Vernon passed away in 1986 and later she married Art Mihm in 1991.

Lenora enjoyed working at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital as a part of the auxiliary and spent many volunteer hours as a part of the Marion County Historical Society. She was also involved in KARSPA and NARFE.

She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending many hours with them making popcorn and playing cards.

Preceding Lenora in death were her parents; brother, Harold and husbands, Vernon and Art.

Lenora is survived by her daughter Bonnie (Melvin) Nichols of Knoxville and a son John of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren; a step-daughter, Arlene (Joe) McCumber of Nashua; a step-son, Alvin Mihm of St. Lucas; a step-granddaughter and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on June 5 with Pastors Melvin Voss and Terry Banker officiating. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Marion County Historial Society and the Knoxville Area Community Hospital Auxiliary.
