Jordan, Elmer John 1917-2006

Elmer John Jordan was born on June 9, 1917, near Knoxville to John and Retha (Holton) Jordan.

He attended Lincoln Country School. On June 16, 1942, he married Echo LaVaughn Hukill in Berkley, Calif. He spent his entire life raising livestock and farming, except for a time he was a welder in the shipyards of California during World War II. He lived on farms near Knoxville and Melcher until he moved in 1949 to a farm near Pleasantville, where he remained until his death.

He faithfully attended the Church of Christ in Pleasantville. He loved his family, dogs and reminiscing about cars and times past.

Elmer went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2006, at his home at the age of 88.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years (1994); sister, Ruby Newton and brothers, Marion and Clarence Jordan. He was the last living grandchild of Fredrick and Henrietta Jordan.

Survivors include his daughter, Frances (Vernon) Milledge of Knoxville; sons, John (Elaine) Jordan of Knoxville and James Jordan of Eldon; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held March 15 with Pastor Don Hill officiating. Interment was in Lincoln Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
