Pella Advertiser: On last Thursday morning news reached this place that James Woolard, an old resident of Jasper County, living about seven miles north of this place, had committed suicide by taking a dose of carbolic acid. His son informed him in the evening that his supper was awaiting him, when he said, "I do not want any supper,” and “I do not want to see the next sunrise." He then went to the barn. His family not thinking he would do anything so rash paid no attention to him until about an hour afterward he came staggering in and fell on the bed saying, "I am going to die." His son was going to start for a doctor, but he said there was no necessity as he would soon be dead, and before the neighbors could get in he died. The bereaved family cannot give any just reasons for his sudden seeming insanity as he was in very good spirits all day.
