In Response To: Marriage Look-Up (Carol Anderson)

Hello!

You know the date and think you know the county, write to the Iowa
Genealogical Society at 628 East Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50309-1924 or go
to their web site at: www.iowagenealogy.org and ask them to do a look up for
you. You can order the book that may contain this information, or better
yet, just have them look it up. If they find it, they will print you out a
copy of the actual marriage info from the marriage book. I actually became
a member when I went through there and let me tell you, I found answers that
my family had been searching for for generations! It is worth it to have a
volunteer look it up for you. Trust me. Some of my family was married in
Mahaska County in 1859 and 1860, the rest were married in Wapello County. I
found out they had moved there, when one of the grown children turned up in
the 1900 census in Wapello County, instead of Mahaska. The light went on and
I began to search that county and I have two Redshaw family members that
were married in Wapello County in 1890. Have fun! Linda Lyon
