Zebulon Pike was 22 when he enlisted in Co. K, Twentieth Iowa Volunteer Infantry. The Roster and Record of Iowa Soldiers in the War of the Rebellion, Vol. III, lists his birthplace as Iowa, and his residence at the time of his enlistment as Le Claire. He enlisted Aug. 14, 1862 and mustered in Aug. 23rd. He mustered out (was discharged from the service) July 8, 1865, at Mobile, Alabama.
