Finding births and marriages

Hi I am emailing from France.
My gt G.mother Sarah Jane Mason arrived in Iowa in 1873 with her parents and 7 siblings.
Around 1877 she married John Cole and by 1880 census had 2 children.She and her immediate family returned to England between 1880 and 1890 - they appear on the 1891 UK census.
Her parents and siblings all stayed in Iowa and have been easy to trace.
I cannot find the birth of my gmother Alice Cole who was b around 1885 - she appears on the England census for 1891 as being born in england and on the 1901 census as born in the USA???
Any ideas or information about how i might trace the marriage or the birth would be appreciated.
