Donna P. Rempe, the daughter of Clifford and Eunice Hess Busby, was born Wednesday, February 10, 1926 at New Sharon, Iowa. She graduated from the New Sharon High School with the class of 1943. Following her high school graduation, she began working as a nurse aide at the Mahaska County Hospital, and continued working there until 1974. She then worked at the old Lyle's Jewelry in Oskaloosa until retiring in 1985. On January 8, 1950, Donna was united in marriage to Max Rempe at Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived near Leighton until moving to Oskaloosa in 1979. While living in Leighton, Donna and Max were members of the Ebenezer Reformed Church, and following their move to Oskaloosa, members of the First Christian Church. On March 21, 1991, Max died.
On Tuesday, April 7, 1998, Donna died at the Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa at the age of 72 years, 1 month, and 28 days.
She is survived by a son and his wife: Michael and JoAnne Rempe of Oskaloosa; a son in law: John Clark of Cedar Falls; 4 grandchildren: John William Clark, Jason Clark, and Kelcey and Kara Rempe. Also surviving is a sister and her husband: Gail and Keith Renaud of New Sharon; and a sister in law and her husband: Eunice and Ralph Kruseman of Leighton.
Besides her husband, Donna was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Rebecca Clark; 2 sisters Audrey Ferguson and Frances Busby; and a brother in law: Earl Ferguson.
Funeral Service for Donna P. Rempe was held in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Friday, April 10, 1998 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Michael Crouch of the First Christian Church presiding. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery of Leighton, Iowa. (From Donna's funeral card)
