Audrey C. "Mac" McIntosh (1902-1999)

Audrey C. "Mac" McIntosh, the son of Albert and Myrtle Garrett McIntosh, was born on Wednesday, August 13, 1902 near Hedrick, Iowa. He attended schools in the Delta and What Cheer areas. On April 14, 1918, he was married to Ellen Brackin at Indianapolis, Iowa, and Ellen died July 1, 1992. He farmed all his adult life until retiring in 1971 and moved into Oskaloosa. He also raised pure bred Angus cattle. He was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, and had served on the church board, and had been member and past president of the Go Getters Sunday School class. Mac was a member of the Oskaloosa Kiwanis Club; and a past member of rural school boards; past board member of the Barnes City Co-Op Elevator; past member of the Poweshiek County Farm Bureau; and the Purebred Angus Association.
On Wednesday morning, August 25, 1999, Mac died at the New Sharon Nursing and Rehab Center in New Sharon, at the age of 97 years and 12 days.
He is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands: Marie Wymore Cash, Mrs. Virgil Cash, of Ottumwa, and Helen Hoskins, Mrs. Jospeh Hoskins, of Oskaloosa; a foster son: Dick Hawkins in California; and a daughter in law: Roberta McIntosh of North Glenn, Colorado. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and a brother and his wife: Chalmer and Kay McIntosh of Fairmont, Minnesota.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Delmar, and A.C. McIntosh, Jr.; a daughter in infancy, Elizabeth; a grandson: Larry McIntosh; a sister: Gwyneth Howar; and a brother: Fedale McIntosh.
Funeral service for Mr. Audrey C. "Mac" McIntosh was held in the Bates Funeral Chapel of Oskaloosa, Iowa on Saturday, August 28, 1999 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Ray Ticknor of the First Christian Church of Oskaloosa, Iowa. Interment: Indianapolis Cemetery in Mahaska County, Iowa.
