Ellen McIntosh, 92, of 1123 Clearview Drive, Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, July 1, 1992 at Mahaska County Hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1899 near Indianapolis to Ernest and Anna Brown Brackin. She married Audrey C. "Mac" McIntosh on April 14, 1918 at Indianapolis. Together they farmed for a short time in Wapello County, for many years in Mahaska County, and lastly on a farm in Poweshiek County. They retired and moved into Oskaloosa in 1971. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Oskaloosa, and of the church's Mary Martha Group; Lady Kiwanis; Daughters of the American Revolution; Garden Club of Iowa; and the Barnes City American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, A.C. "Mac" McIntosh of Oskaloosa; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie and Virgil Cash of Ottumwa and Helen and Joseph Hoskins of Fremont; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Brackin of New Sharon and Roy Brackin of Oskaloosa. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Delmar and A.C. McIntosh, Jr.; an infant daughter Elizabeth; a grandson, Larry McIntosh; a sister, Dorothy Applegate; and a brother, Paul Brackin.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, with the Rev. Michael Crouch officiating. Burial will be at Indianapolis Cemetery in Mahaska County. Memorials may be made to her church's Mary Martha Group or to the Barnes City American Legion Auxiliary. The family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa on Saturday, 2-3 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. (The Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
