Eunice M. Howell, 98, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, May 16, at Siesta Park Nursing Home in Oskaloosa.
Service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. Interment: White Oak Cemetery near Rose Hill. Visitation begins 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, with family present 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorials: American Cancer Society or Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Mrs. Howell was born on April 6, 1899, in Keokuk County, to Lewis and Margaret Kerkove White. In 1918, she graduated from Sigourney High School. On Aug. 18, 1921, she married Orland Howell in Oskaloosa. He died Sept. 7, 1970. They farmed for many years near Rose Hill. She moved into Oskaloosa in July 1988. She was a charter member of the Loyal Neighbors Club of Rose Hill.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Lois and Carroll Romine of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Dawson of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orland; a daughter, Eva Romine; three brothers, Ivan White, Harry White and Lloyd White; and three sisters, Grace Souer, Opal Hollingsworth and Hazelle Covington. (The Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
