Warren Edward Coleman, 93, Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, July 4, at Montezuma Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Montezuma. His funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Howard Lord officiating. Burial; Forest Cemetery, with military honors by the American Legion, VFW and DAV. Memorials: Iowa Lions Foundation.
Warren Coleman was born Sept. 29, 1906, in Oskaloosa to Howard and Carrie Southwick Coleman. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1925, and attended William Penn College for a year. He and his sister, Dorothy, were very active in high school 50-year class reunions held each year. He was employed by the Oskaloosa Herald for 50 years as a linotype operator and foreman for the composing room. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, and an active member of the Lions Club, receiving many honors from that organization, as well as serving in various offices and being active in the eyeglass program.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Coleman of Oskaloosa and now residing in Montezuma; a brother and sister-in-law; William Donald "Bill" and Catherine Coleman of Miami, Fla; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, the Rev. Theodore Albert "Ted" Coleman.
