Alice Maxine Hanna, 89, of Ames, and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, Dec. 17, at her home. Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Michael Crouch officiating. Burial: Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visiting hours are open at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with family greeting visitors following the funeral service at the church; services will include lunch. Memorials: First Christian Church.
Maxine Hanna was born Dec. 9, 1911, in Adams Township of Mahaska County to Harry and Ethel Ruby Cameron. She married robert Hanna on Aug. 26, 1932. The [sic] lived on the family farm northeast of Oskaloosa until 1991 when they moved to Oskaloosa. They moved to Ames in May 1999. Maxine attended Chapel Hill rural grade school and graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1931. She was a nurse's aid at Mahaska County Hospital, and a teacher's aid in the Oskaloosa Community School District, with a special interest in special education classes at Jefferson Elementary. She was very supportive of Mahaska Diamond Shelter. She was a member of First Christian Church and Ruth Circle.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Hanna of Ames; a son and daughter-in-law: Jerry and June Hanna of Roland; two daughters and sons-in-law: Karen and David Reynolds of New Virginia, and Cindy and Greg Lang of Lees Summit, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Hanna of Gravois Mills, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Rosemary Auge. (The Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
