Dorothy Mary Coleman, 89, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, Dec. 16, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Her funeral serivce will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Howard Lord officiating. Burial: Forest Cemetery. Visiting hours are open at the funeral chapel. Memorials: Methodist Church or Iowa Lions Foundation.
Dorothy Coleman was born March 8, 1911, in Marshalltown, to Howard and Carrie Southwick Coleman. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1929, and attended John Fletcher College in University Park 1930-1932. She was inventory records clerk for Montgomery War [sic] for 34 years. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for 36 years. She was a member of Oskaloosa Business and Professional Women's Club; a life member of the Iowa State Historical Society; and a member of W.C.T.U.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law: William Donald and Catherine Coleman of Miami, Fla.; and nieces and nephews including Edward Donald Coleman of Omaha, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law: the Rev. Theodore (Ted) Coleman and Warren Coleman. (The Oskaloosa Herald, source unknown).
