UNIVERSITY PARK - Glen Lieurance, 94, of University Park, died Saturday, June 16, at his home. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Richard Boyd officiating. Arrangements are by Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. Visiting hours will be open Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Memorials: Mahaska Hospice.
Glen Lieurance was born May 28, 1907, near Rose Hill, to Joseph and Emma Ruby Lieurance. He graduated from Rose Hill High School. On Dec. 31, 1938, he married Maxada Applegate in Lancaster, Mo. He farmed near Rose Hill all his working life, and retired from farming at age 76. In retirement he worked on wood projects and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Maxada Lieurance of University Park; a daughter and son-in-law: Renita and Dennis Kargol of University Park; two grandsons: Mark Kargol and Matthew and wife Sarah Kargol; a great-grandson, Jacksen Lieurance Kargol; a brother-in-law, Donald Appelgate of Oskaloosa; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; a brother, Roy Lieurance; and a sister, Ethel Lieurance Sprague (The Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
