Services: 10 a.m., Saturday, April 21, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. Visitation: 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday, April 20, at the funeral chapel; the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 p.m. to greet visitors. Burial: Coal Creek Cemetery.
OSKALOOSA, Iowa—Mary S. Mattix, 93, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday evening, April 17, 2012, at the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House from complications from a fall on Feb. 20.
Rev. Liz Colton of St. Paul Congregational United Church of Christ will be officiating. Memorials may be made to Women's Fellowship at St. Paul or the Coal Creek Cemetery Association.
Mary Sarilda Mattix, daughter of Squire Blevins and Maynee Alice Nedderman Huggins, was born March 18, 1919, in Topeka, Kans. Jan. 10, 1936, Mary married Donald Winfred Mattix in Unionville, Mo.
Mary was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young and later was hired by Midland Supply and Tool in their parts department. She then went to work at Oskaloosa International, also in the parts department. Mary retired in 1984.
Mary's family includes her children and their spouses: Donna and Aaron Gray of Littleton, Colo.; Beverly Green of Murray, Ipwa; Howard and Valerie Mattix of Omaha, Neb.; Bruce and Diana Mattix of Rocklin, Calif.; Karen and Dan Harris of Muscatine, Iowa, and Sherry and Terry Porter of Muscatine, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 step-great grandchildren; two step-great great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn (Richard) Stagg of Clovis, N.M., and a brother, George (Mary) Huggins of Newton, Iowa.
