Dale Black, 59, of 905 S. Seventh St., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1986 at Salem, Ill. He was born April 4, 1926 in Seibert, Colo., the son of John K. Black, and Charlotte Woodward Black.

He married Kyoko "Mary" Ichehara on March 15, 1952 in Tokyo, Japan. He was a driver for Direct Freight Systems, Inc. of Des Moines, and was a member of the Teamsters Local Union No. 147 in Des Moines. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife Mary; a daughter, Karen Sue Black of Des Moines; a sister, Frances Reese of La Crosse, Wis.

He was preceded by his parents; a sister, Eleanor Hinkle; and a brother, John K. Black, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Garland-Van Arkel Funeral Chapel with Rev. Floyd Cooper of Vennard College officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery. Military honors will be by the American Legion. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. The family will be at the funeral chapel from 7-8 p.m. tonight to greet relatives and friends.
