Roscoe Hanna Eveland, age 74, died Saturday, April 22, 1995 at his home on 807 C Avenue East, Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was born August 28, 1920 in Mahaska County, Iowa to Mark and Edithe Hanna Eveland. He married Ruth Chickering July 11, 1943 at Ottumwa, Iowa.

He attended Allgood Elementary School in rural Mahaska County. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1938. He attended Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa. He farmed and raised Black Angus cattle. He was a 4-H leader, for several years he was superintendent of the beef cattle at the Southern Iowa Fair. He was a member and served as a chairman for 2 years on the Mahaska County Extension Council. He was a charter member and the first president of the Mahaska County Cattlemen's Association. He was a longtime member of the Mahaska County Sheriff's Posse.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Oskaloosa; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Tom Edwards of Knoxville, Tennessee; 2 sons, Tom Eveland of New Sharon and Mark Eveland of Oskaloosa; 4 grandsons, Doug and Andy Edwards of Knoxville, Tennessee, Ross Eveland of New Sharon and Lance Conner of Lovilia, Iowa.

He was preceded by his parents; 1 sister, Dorothy Osmond; and an infant brother, Edwin Freeman Eveland.

Services were held on Tuesday, April 25, 1995 at one o'clock in Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Crouch of the First Christian Church presiding. Interment: Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, Iowa. This was a Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel service.
