Margaret Ann Piersel, wife of Wm. Piersel, died at her home near Oskaloosa January 9, 1896, aged 69 years.

She has been a great sufferer with chronic stomach trouble for many years. She has been matron of the Mahaska county infirmary for several years and filled the position acceptably up to the date of her death. She was an old resident of Indianapolis, having lived here many years, and enjoyed the respect and confidence of a large circle of friends. She was a devoted member of the Christian church and died in the full triumph of a living faith. The last six weeks of her life were weeks of unrest and suffering. She leaves a husband, one son and two daughters.

The funeral service was held at Indianapolis at the Christian church Sunday, Jan. 12th, at 11 o'clock a.m., conducted by Rev. Pettit. A large audience was present. Interment at Indianapolis.

Rest thee, beloved wife,
Proud mother, sister, friend;
Thy sleep indeed is sweet,
Since pain in death must end.

Rest thee, beloved one!
Thine is a well-earned sleep;
Thou hast full recompense
And none for thee should [illegible]

Long years hast thou withstood
Pain's fiercest furnace blast,
And it is well that thou,
Hast found full rest at last.

Rest, for they long tried soul-
Rest, from all worldly strife-
Rest, and a pain and crown -
Rest, and eternal life.

Rest thee, beloved!
Rest from the battle won;
Rest! for the Master saith:
"Servant of God, well done." - MINNEHAHA
