Mrs. Lucinda Bump died at the home of her son I. W. Bump last Saturday January 25th, aged 79 years, 9 months, and 16 days after a short illness of pneumonia. She was born in Plattsbug New York, on the 9th day of May, 1810. In an early day they moved to Ohio, and came west to Iowa in the year 1854, locating in what was then known as Mount Vernon, where they lived until about nineteen years ago, her husband died; since that time until about five years ago she lived in that neighborhood, since then she has made her home with her son and family. She joined the M. E. church in her young days, and for more than half a century lived a consistent and earnest Christian life. She was a kind and indulgent mother, a good and helpful neighbor, loved and respected by all who knew her. She leaves three sons and a large number of grand-children to mourn her loss. Blessed are the faithful, for they shall receive their reward. The relatives have the sympathy of all in this, their sad bereavement. (Oskaloosa Daily Herald, Jan. 30, 1890, p. 2)

M.V. Bump of Story county was called here to attend the funeral of his mother which took place last Sunday. (Oskaloosa Daily Herald, Jan. 30, 1890, p. 2)
