Clara Randall McBurney, fourth child of Charles D. and Sarah Moore was born near Wright in Mahaska county, Iowa, September 10, 1877, and died at her home in Rogers, Neb., March 27, 1934, at the age of 56 years, six months and 17 days. Mrs. McBurney, a member of a family of eight children, grew to womanhood at the parental Randall home southeast of Wright, where she was educated at the public school; later she attended Penn college. She was married to William A. McBurney of White Oak and to this union were born four children, Clifford of Rogers, Neb., Virgil of Ord, Neb., and Lottie Bell and Elsie McBurney at home. Early in life she united with the Methodist church at Wright and later transferred her membership to the Methodist church at Rogers. In 1917 the family moved to a farm near Fremont, Neb., and in 1926 to Rogers, where in March, 1929, her husband died. Besides her four children, Mrs. McBurney is survived by two grandchildren, one brother, S. A. Randall of Wright, and three sisters, Mrs. T. W. Gullick of Wright, Mrs. D. E. Givin and Mrs. Orville Fox of Cedar. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at North Bend, Neb., Thursday afternoon, March 29, with Rev. C. McCorkle, pastor of the Rogers M. E. church, in charge. He was assisted by Rev. H. F. Beebe of North Bend. Burial was at the Ridge Cemetery in Fremont, Neb. Those attending the funeral services from a distance were C. A. McBurney, Mrs. D. E. Gwin, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Fox of Cedar, S. A. Randall of Wright, H. W. Randall and Mr.and Mrs. Harry Wurtz of York, Neb., F. G. Randall of Osceola, Neb., R. A. Randall of Stormsburg, Neb., and G. E. Randall, son and daughter, of Julesburg, Neb. (Daily Herald, Oskaloosa, Iowa April 5, 1934, page 5).
