Leo Hubbell - Beanon - Leo E. Hubbell, 84, of Beacon, died April 28, 2005 at the Mahaska Hospital, Oskaloosa.
He was born Oct.13, 1920, near Webster to Albert and Clista Sigafoose Hubbell. He married Betty Yeoman Oct 20, 1946 in Oskaloosa.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked at several places in Oskaloosa including old Kalbach Lumber and Frazier Coal Company and worked at the old Superior-Ideal Manufacturing, Oskaloosa, retiring after over 25 years. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V.
Survivors include his wife: two sons, Robert Hubbell of Oskaloosa and Jim Hubbell of Knoxville; daughter Dixie of Ottumwa; nine granchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; a great-grandson; five brothers, Bert, Earl, Ora, Leonard and Jimmy Hubbell; and three sisters, Nora Morgan and Lena and Grace Parker.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bates Funeral Chapel, Oskaloosa with Kenny James and William Day officiating. Burial with military rites given by the Oskaloosa American Legion, V.F.W. and D.A.V. will be at Beacon Cemetery, Beacon.
Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
A memorial has been established in his name.
