There is deep sorrow in the home of W. S. Piersoll, at the poor farm, death having claimed the
good wife on Thursday evening, resulting from a complication of troubles. For thirty-seven years
these worthy people had been going hand in hand to the duties of life, and the severance now
comes with killing bitterness. All the children - three - are grown to age, and with the father
mourn the loss of a mother who was rich in all that is good. Mrs. Piersoll had been ill for about
five weeks, and despite the bout of medical skill death claimed her. The funeral will be on
Sunday, at Indianapolis, where the family have other dead. The sympathy of all goes out to Mr.
Piersoll in his great loss. (The Herald: Oskaloosa, Thursday, January 16, 1896, volume 96,
number 24, page 2)
Note: Margaret Ann “Ann” Denney Piersel died Thursday, January 9, 1896.
