Russia McIntire Hite, 92, of Pleasant Park Manor died at 2:20 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 1976. Born August 19, 1884 in Osborne County, Kansas, she was the daughter of Vest and Alpha Jackson McIntire. The family moved to Iowa when Russia was a small girl. She began her school days in Hayes School in Poweshiek County. She attended other rural schools in addition to two years in New Sharon High School. She taught in the rural schools of Mahaska County for a few terms. A member of the Little Mount Baptist Church west of Montezuma, she was married to Tom Hite on June 2, 1904. Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1958. Surviving are a son, Ralph Hite of Oskaloosa and daughter Mrs. (Dorothy) Scott Simpson of Seattle, Wash.; four granddaughters, five great granddaughters and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and three brothers. Services were held at Powers Funeral Home in Oskaloosa at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 1976 with the Rev. Raymond Ticknor officiating. Burial was in the Little Mount Baptist Church Cemetery in Montezuma. Pall Bearers were Leroy Slay, Cecil Hulbert, Ervin Long, Casey Van Weelden, John W. Van Weelden and Walter Van Donselaar. Organist Mrs. Ellen Kentfield played "Ivory Palaces".

Mrs. Russia Catora Hite, 92, died Thursday afternoon at Pleasant Park Manor Nursing Home where she had resided for the past 12 years. The daughter of Vest and Alpha Jackman McIntire, she was born Aug. 19, 1894, in Osborne Co., Kansas. Surviving are one son, Ralph Hite of Oskaloosa; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Simpson of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, at Powers Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Ticknor officiating. Burial will be in the Little Mount Baptist Church Cemetery near Montezuma.
