Ray Edward Fielder, the second son of D.E. and Mattie Fielder, was born in Green Valley, Illinois, Oct. 2, 1902. He came with his parents to Iowa in March, 1905, and lived on a farm east of Fremont until March, 1907. They moved to a farm purchased from the Hamilton Brown estate northwest of Rose Hill. Little Ray grew sick three weeks ago of pneumonia, and became worse and worse, until Monday at 11:30 the end came. He leaves an older brother, and a brother and sister younger than himself, and a father and mother. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday at 2:30, Rev. L. Tennant preaching, and interment was made in Wymore Cemetery. (Oskaloosa Daily Herald, July 11, 1907, p. 4)
