Forrest W. Huyser (1928-2007)

Forrest Willard Huyser, son of William C. and Stella Vander Kamp Huyser, was born May 15, 1928 in Sully, Iowa. He attended Chester School south of Sully. His first jobs were at the Sully Co-op and the Sully Hatchery. He married Betty Ann Ringelestein January 24, 1950 at her parent's home in Oskaloosa. They spent the first 21 years of their life together farming north of Oskaloosa. From 1971 to 1994, he owned and operated a semi-truck, contracting long distant hauling for several companies, the last of which was DRS Transportation. After his trucking career, Forrest assisted his son in his tiling and earth moving business until retiring in 2000. Forest was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church where he served as an elder and deacon. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, The Flying Farmers Association and a 20 year member of the Mahaska County Sheriff's Posse. Forrest enjoyed his career in trucking and spending time with his family.

Forrest passed away early Tuesday morning at Crystal Heights (formerly Pleasant Park Estates) Nursing Home at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 27 days.

Forrest's family includes his wife, Betty Huyser of Oskaloosa; a son, Duane (Joyce) Huyser of New Sharon, IA, two daughters: Diane Kay (Gene) Speacht of Duncansville, PA and Debra (Jerry) Bandstra of Pella. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. He is survived by three brothers: Irvin (Edith) Huyser of Pella, Orland (Patty) Huyser of Redmond, WA; and Karmen (Sherry) Huyser of Lenexa, MO; a sister: LaVonne (Larry) Vande Kamp of Pella; and a step-mother, Evelyn Huyser of Pella, IA.

Forrest was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Douglas E. Speacht and two sisters: Lavoe Smith and Beverly Van Zee.

A Celebration of Life was held at First Christian Reformed Church on December 14, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Dale Visser officiating. Interment was held at Forest Cemetery & Garden of Reflection in Oskaloosa. Arrangements entrusted to Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. (from Forrest's funeral card)
