Charles J. Foster, 75, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. He was born September 7, 1927, in Monroe County, Iowa, the son of Charles F. and Vergie Brown Foster. On March 27, 1945, he was united in marriage to Gladys McFall at Oskaloosa. He was a farmer for many years, and in 1967, started doing carpentry work with his father and brothers. Charles was a past member of the Eagles, and enjoyed camping and golfing.

Charles is survived by his wife, Gladys of Oskaloosa; 2 sons and their wives: Don and Idy Foster of Oskaloosa and Bob and Charlotte Foster of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter and her husband: Diane and Ron Bower of Oskaloosa; 7 grandchildren: Brian (& Crystal), Kim, and Jeff (& Karie) Foster, Jodi (& Tim) Brackett, and Mike (& Carrie), Derrick (& Nicole), and Jason (& Heidi) Bunnell; 10 great grandchildren: Brandon, Mallory, Lindsay, and Mason Foster, Haley, Dalton, Josie, Emma, and Lucas Bunnell, and Samantha Strain; and 3 brothers: Gerald (& Phyllis) Foster of What Cheer, Larry Foster of Knoxville, Gordon (& Faye) Foster of Peoria, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son in law: Dennis Bunnell.

Funeral services for Charles Foster will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Childers officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Monday after 5 p.m., and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 6:30 – 8 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice.
