Neva Caldwell Taylor, 90, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, May 8, in Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born September 13, 1908, in Cedar Township, of Mahaska County, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Viola Woods Caldwell.

She attended Concert Grade School, William Penn College, and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago graduating with an R.N. degree. She later acquired the degree of DNS.

Neva resided in Nampa, Idaho, for forty-one years, working until her retirement in 1978 as nursing supervisor at Mercy, Samaritan and Caldwell Memorial Hospitals and skilled nursing facilities in Idaho. She was also was an instructor of classes in patient care, and served on a task force upgrading the state standards of patient care of the Idaho Department of Health. She returned to make her home in Oskaloosa in 1998.

Neva was active in civic and volunteer activities, at one time serving as Mahaska County Farm Bureau Women's Chairman, WCTU, Pythian Sisters, and professional nursing organizations. She had also served as chairman of Red Cross Gray Ladies working at the Knoxville Veterans' Hospital.

Neva is survived by her son and his wife, Keith and Junella Schultz of Des Moines, three grandchildren, Mark Schultz, Michael Schultz, and Natalie Young; and seven great-grandchildren, Lindsey Schultz, Brenna Schultz, Justin Schultz, Benjamin Schultz, Gale Schultz, Kaci Young, and Brandon Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Kathryn Caldwell Richard.

Funeral services were held at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel on Wednesday afternoon, May 12, 1999, at two o'clock with Rev. Ralph Lohman of the College Avenue Friends Church officiating. Interment at White Oak Cemetery
