James Gordon Robbins (1920-2005)

James Gordon Robbins, the son of Harry and Clara Wymore Robbins, was born on Saturday, January 10, 1920, near Rose Hill. On May 10, 1941, he was united in marriage to Lorene Alexander at Lancaster, Missouri, and she died November 20, 2004. He farmed all of his life; first in the Rose Hill area, then in 1957 Gordon moved to Tracy to farm. Early in his adult life he worked winters at John Morrell and company and John Deere Company in Ottumwa. Gordon also was a seed corn dealer. He enjoyed fishing, and early in his adult life enjoyed hunting. On Saturday, November 5, 2005, Gordon died at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, at the age of 85 years, 9 months, and 26 days. His family includes a son and his wife, Randy and Wanda Robbins of Beacon, Iowa; 2 grandchildren James Robbins and Julia Thomas; 3 great grandchildren; Hannah Lynn and Wyatt Robbins, and Michael Thomas; and a sister and her husband: Wanda and Dale Timmons of Crestview, Florida. Besides his wife, Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Gordon Lester Robbins; and a brother: William Robbins.

Funeral Service was held in the Bates Funeral Chapel of Oskaloosa, Iowa on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Jeffery Baughman presiding. Interment in Old Rose Hill Cemetery near Rose Hill, Iowa.
