BRINEY--Charles A. Briney, retired farmer and deputy sheriff, died Monday evening, December 21, 1959, at the Tower Park Nursing Home where he had resided for a number of years. He was born in Adams Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Briney, and served as deputy sheriff of Mahaska County during the term of Sheriff Ike Reed, around 1914.

His wife preceded him in death in October, 1954.

Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Faye) Hanna of Oskaloosa; one son, Joel T. Briney of Lindsay, California; one brother, J. N. Briney of Harrison, Arkansas; one grandson, Vernon Hanna of Des Moines; three great-grandchildren, Mrs. Ronnie Dennis, Harry Allen Hanna, and Sharon Faye Hanna, all of Des Moines; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at Powers Funeral Home, Wednesday, December 23, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Richard Goins of First Christian Church will be in charge with burial at Forest Cemetery.
