Clarence Dwight Sanders, 84, of the Sigourney Manor House and formerly of Rose Hill, died Friday, April 19, 1996 in Ottumwa at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born May 9, 1911 near Delta, the son of Lyle and Blanche Thomas Sanders.
He married Mildred Northup June 22, 1930 in What Cheer.
Clarence had graduated from the Delta High School in 1930 and farmed all of his life in the Rose Hill area. He attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa for a year and had worked for the National Farmer Organization for nearly 30 years. He was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple, the Eagles Lodge of Oskaloosa, past president of the Red Rock Coon Hunters Association and a member of the National Coonhound Association.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; a son and daughter-in-law, Leroy and Nancy Sanders; a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Kenneth Sankey; four grandchildren, Wade and Wayne Sanders, Mickie Sankey and Deena Bentley; eight great-grandchildren, Bryan, Kelly, Anne, Christopher, Holly, Nicole, Travis and Michelle; and one brother, Sam Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a stillborn brother, Mervin Bert Sanders in 1919.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer with Rev. Dave Grandon officiating. Burial was in the Jackson Cemetery in Rose Hill.
