HELEN D. RINEHART

Helen D. Rinehart, 96, a resident of the New Sharon Nursing and Rehab Center in New Sharon, and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at the care center. She was born February 12, 1909 in Beacon, the daughter of David H. and Glie Dooms Davis. She graduated in 1927 from Oskaloosa High School. On October 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Raymond H. (Dutch) Rinehart at Oskaloosa, and he died October 8, 1968. She worked at the old Northwester Bell Telephone office in Oskaloosa for over 45 years, the last 36 years as the chief operator, and retired in January of 1973. Helen was a member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa; the American Legion Auxiliary; Oskaloosa Altrusa Club; B.P.W.; Centennial Circle of King's daughters; and the Telephone Pioneers.

Her family includes 5 nieces and nephews including Rosemary McMillian and Randy Davis, both of Oskaloosa, Janet Kool of McCook, Nebraska, Dale Evans of Conroe, Texas, and Wayne Evans of Wagram, North Carolina; and 4 sisters-in-law, Alberta Davis, Doris Rinehart, and Betty White, all of Oskaloosa, and Annabelle Schlicht of Beacon, New York.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Harry D. Davis, Roland Davis, and Robert Davis; and a sister, Hazel Evans.

Funeral services for Helen Rinehart will be held Saturday, August 27, 2005, at 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Reverend Michael Crouch officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, with the Reverend Charlie McMillian officiating. Visitation will begin Friday after 10 a.m., and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church building fund or the American Heart Association.
