James Andrew "Andy" Patterson, 50, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, November 16, 2003, at the Washington Care Center in Washington, Iowa. He was born February 12, 1953 in Oskaloosa, the son of Lloyd M. and Patricia B. Pierce Patterson. Andy graduated from the Oskaloosa Senior High School with the class of 1971. He attended Indian Hills Community College. He was an auto mechanic early in his adult life, and then did automobile body work for Van Gorp Auto Recyclers and specialized in rebuilding Chevrolet El Caminos. In his early years, he enjoyed being the sound and light technician for the local band "Touch & Go". Andy was a member of ABATE of Iowa, District 14.

Andy is survived by his parents: Lloyd and Patricia Patterson of Oskaloosa; a sister and her husband: Mary and John Greener of Washington, Iowa; a brother and his wife: L. David and Jeanne Patterson of Dubuque, Iowa; two nieces and four nephews; and an aunt: Ila Hoskin of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Funeral services for Andy Patterson will be held Thursday, November 20, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Kelly Kellum officiating. Cremation will follow the service, and burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date. Open visitation will begin on Tuesday after 6 p.m. at the funeral chapel, and continue all day Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice.
