Wendell L. Bcadel, 76, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, May 18, 1998 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.
Service was at 1 p.m. Thursday May 21 at Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with Rev. Bud Drummond officiating. Interment at Forest
Cemetery, Oskaloosa, with graveside military rites conducted by members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Beadel was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Lenox to Walter and Delia Belding Beadel. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Nov. 1, 1947 he married Nadine Genners at Clarinda. They moved to Oskaloosa in 1963 and he founded Beadel Distributing Co. in Oskaloosa.
He operated the company in partnership with his son, Al Beadel. He had also been in partnership with his son, Terry Genners, in Iowa Beverage Co. in Ottumwa since 1974. He had started in the beer business in 1945 as a route driver in Creston.
He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Iowa Wholesale Beer Distributors Association.
Survivors include his wife Nadine of Oskaloosa; three sons and their wives Terry and Fran Genners of Ottumwa, Allen and Jeanie Beadel of Oskaloosa and Rick and Cathy Beadel of Ottumwa; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Reldon Beadel of Lenox.
