Barkley Funeral

OTTUMWA - Raymond J. Barkley, 75, Ottumwa, former long time postal employee at Fairfield died at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ottumwa Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Willard Street United Methodist Church in Ottumwa with the Rev. James Russell officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery in Mahaska County where Masonic Rites will be conducted. The body is at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Ottumwa.

Born Aug. 11, 1897, in Union County near Creston, Raymond Barkley was the son of George and Dora Lyon Barkley. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Clinton Lodge No. 15, AF and AM, and the Eagles Lodge at Fairfield; and the Postal Workers Union.

Barkley was employed at the Fairfield Post Office for 31 years. At the time of his retirement in 1961, he moved to Ottumwa where he had made his home since.

He was married July 14, 1943, to Marie Hining who survives. Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Valeda Smith and Mrs. Fairy McReynolds, both of Ottumwa; and Mrs. Effa Westercamp, Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by one sister.
