Lavonne E. Hermann, 64, dies

Lavonne E. (Edwards) Herrmann, 64, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at her home following a sudden illness.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 11, at Hallowell and James Funeral Home in Downers Grove, Ill. A second funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 14, a Hardin Funeral Home in New Sharon. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 13, in the afternoon, and at 7 p.m. at Hardin Funeral Home in New Sharon. Interment will be in Barnes City Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the Humane Society.

Mrs. Herrmann was born Nov. 13, 1934, to Gerald E. and Marybelle (Malik) Edwards in Washington. She married Carl Hermann Sep. 27, 1957, in Danforth Chapel on the University of Iowa Campus.

She attended school in Washington and graduated high school in 1953. She was a 1956 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City. She worked in the O.R. department of the University Hospital in Iowa City, and later in the Children's Hospital in Iowa City. In addition she worked in the Children's Birth Defects Clinic in Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha, Neb. At the time of her death, she was employed by Dr. Ahstrum, orthopedic surgeon, in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Ill.

She is survived by her husband, Carl; two sons, Scott Herrmann of Woodridge, Ill. and Mark Herrmann of Woodridge, Ill.; one granddaughter, Jessica Herrmann, of Downers Grove, Ill.; her mother, Maybelle Edwards of Washington, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald E. Edwards, and her grandparents.
