OBITUARY
MARCH 1918OSKALOOSA HERALD
Mary. L Cummins, daughter of H.C. and Jane Cummins, was born in Cedar township, Mahaska county, Ia., on Jan 30, 1865, and died at Hureta, Mexicao, on March 8, 1918, aged 54 years, 1 month and 9 days.
She was reared to womanhood here and in 1886 was married to Jacob Roquette and to this union two children were born, H.F., of Fremont and Mrs. Mabel Marr of Ainsworth, Iowa, who, with the aged mother, are left to mourn.
The deceased moved to Parsons, Kan., eighteen years ago which place has since been her home. After leaving here she studied medicine and was graduated from three different schools and practiced her profession with much success. About a year ago her health failed her and she went to Hureta, Mexico, and was joined there last fall by her mother, Mrs. Jane Cummins of Fremont, but she failed to regain her health and gradually grew worse until dissolution came. Her mother and children were with her during her last hours.
The remains were taken to Parsons, Kan., and the funeral was held at her own home at 3:30 p.m., on Saturday, March 9, the services being conducted by the paster of the M.E. church, and interment was made in the Parsons cemetery.
