OBITUARTY
Thomas D. Reese was born near Llandyssul, Cardiganshire, South Wales, April 14th, 1819, where he was raised to manhood, and there married Jane Lloyd Jones. From there he moved to Dowalis, Glanmorganshire, in 1840, where he resided until 1869, when the whole family emigrated to Summit Hill, Pa. From Summit Hill in the fall of 1869, he moved to Coal Valley, Illinois. In 1872, he moved to Cardonia, Clay County, Indiania, and in 1873, from Cardonia to Givin, Iowa, where he has since resided on a farm for the last 33 years. He buried his wife in 1890 and since has been making his home with his son, Thomas B. Reese, until he died January 23rd, 1906, aged 86 years, 9 months, and 9 days. He had six children, of whom three have been laid to rest in Wales, in the cemetery of the old chapel Cefn Cord y Cymoner, and three still survive him, all living in Mahaska county, Iowa; Mrs. (Margaret) George Brown, west of Givin, Jenkin D. Reese, of Oskaloosa, and Thomas B. Reese, south of Givin. He also leaves 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
