Ruth Chambers Covey, 90, Of Oskaloosa, Iowa died Thursday, September 25, 1997 at her home.

She was born June 4, 1907 at Givin, Iowa, to Joseph S. and Sarah Reese Chambers. She married Howard Perry Covey on March 6, 1927. He died October 12, 1973.

She attended school in Mahaska County at Sandridge and Given. She was employed during her life at F.W. Woolworth and Continental Manufacturing Company.

She was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Joyce and Russell McVeigh of Des Moines, and Joann Beal of Tracy; and four sons and four daughters-in-law, Perry Dean and Sharon Covey of Monroe, Donald Robert and Ruby Covey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, William Edward and Marcella Covey of Oskaloosa, and Joseph Duane and Linda Covey of Monroe. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, Clinton Atherton, Ruth Atherton, Leona Atherton, Donna Lee, Fred Atherton, Billy Atherton, Michael Walton, Russell Walton, Kevin Covey, Howard Ericksen, Mary McGrew, Susan Beaver, Judy Street, Laurie Brand, Joan Johnson, Sandra Raney, Perry Covey, Belinda Scott, Cynthia Covey, Kimberly McDade, Bryan covey, Christopher Covey, and Sarah Covey; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild, 1 sister and a brother-in-law, Erma and Harold Sparks; and 1 brother and a sister-in-law, Irwin and Lillian Chambers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; her daughter, Ruth Atherton; 2 grandchildren, Patricia Joan Beal and Leonard Dean Atherton,; 2 sisters, Laura Chambers and Martha Chambers, and 3 brothers, Joseph Chambers, Reese Chambers, and Ivor Robert Chambers.

Interment will be at Henness Cemetery.
