Mrs. Rachel Rockey, age 90, passed away at her home early Monday morning, Jan 27 1941, after many months of poor health. She was born at Fremont and made her home in that community until moving to Hedrick in the later years of her life. Through her illness she has been cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Rella Kennedy, of St. Edwards, NE, and her son Ross who resides near her home. Funeral services will be held at the home this afternoon at two p.m. Rev. S. P. Williamson, of Fairfield, will have charge of the service, assisted by Rev. Carl Ganschow pastor of the Hedrick St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will be made in the Cedar Township cemetery near Fremont. Pall bearers will be Asa Phillippe of Fremont, E. W. Phillippe of Ottumwa, Walter Roquet of Fremont, Lynn Watts and Harry Watts of Hedrick and Harvey Smith of Bloomfield. Others who survive are one brother, Harry White of Shawnee, OK, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Jane Phillippe of Fremont, Mrs. Florence Eastburn of Dubuque, Mrs. Estella Watts of Hedrick and Mrs. L. J. Spurgin of Oskaloosa and three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
