Again Phil Kearney Post has been called to record that the long march of another comrade has ended. Comrade J. A. Rhinehart, a worthy honored member of the Post died May 30, 1916 and has gone to his reward at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 6 days. He served his country well and faithfully, enlisting Aug. 6, 1862, in Co. H, 75th Indiana Vol. Inf. Serving nearly three years; was discharged June 8, 1865, at the close of the war. He joined Phil Kearney Post Oct. 4, 1892.
Comrade Rhinehart was a brave soldier, a true Christian, a lover of his country and flag. He was first under fire at Chickamauga and afterwards participated in the battles of Mission Ridge, Resaca, Cassville, Kenaway Mountain and was in the Atlanta campaign with Sherman’ march to the sea, in the 14th Army Corps.
Me we with others emulate the unselfishness of this comrade until it shall be our time to be called hence.
Resolved, That we extend to the widow of our deceased comrade our deepest sympathy; and be it further Resolved, That this memorial be spread on the records of our Post, a copy furnished the widow, and also to the city papers for publication.
