Jesse Clyde HAINES, son of J.A. and Katie HAINES, was born April 8, 1894, at Seward, NE and departed this life March 9, 1935 at his home at 1235 East Twelfth Avenue, Denver, Colo., at the age of 40 years eleven months and one day. He moved with his parents to Iowa in 1907 and made his home at Cedar [Mahaska Co.] and Oskaloosa [Mahaska Co.] until 1928, when he went to Denver, Colo. In June, 1917 he enlisted in the navy and was given a medical discharge in 1918. He was a member of the Denver chapter of the American Legion; of Oskaloosa lodge No. 340, Order of the Elks; of Council lodge No. 644, A.F. & A.M. and at the time of his death was general manager of the Hall-Davis Cadillac Company.

Clyde’s mother preceded him in death in 1923. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. Wilma HAINES; a foster-daughter, Phyllis CUNNIGHAM; his father, J.A. HAINES; two sisters, Mrs. J.H. BURCH of Fremont and Kathryn HAINES of Cedar; three brothers, W.L. of Fargo, N.D., H.E. of Lewistown, MO and E.G. of Ottumwa, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Appropriate services were held in the Cedar M.E. church Wednesday afternoon. Rev. J.E. Ward, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment in the Fremont cemetery [Mahaska Co.], with services conducted by Council lodge A.F. & A.M. and Harry Anderson post of the American Legion.
