Obituary

Again the death angel has come and taken from our midst a dear mother, friend and neighbor, Mrs. Ellen M. Funk, who passed away at the home of her son, Dawson Funk, Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 26, aged 70 years 9 months and four days. Her death came very suddenly and was a great shock to all.

On October 3, 1883, she was united in marriage to Wm. S. Funk, who preceded her in death four years ago. To this union five children were born: J. M. Funk, Dawson Funk, Mrs. Mary Rickert, Mrs. Iris Dull, of Morrowville, Kan., and William Franklin who also preceded his mother in death. Nine grandchildren, and four brothers, R.W., T.K., H.G., and J.L. Moore, and one sister, Mrs. W. L. Gwin, with many other relatives and friends are left to mourn her leaving.

When a young girl she was converted and united with the Methodist church at Cedar. After her marriage she transferred her membership to Kirkville, which was her place of worship until the time of her death.

She was born, reared and lived most of her life in Mahaska county. She will be greatly missed in her family. What God giveth he also taketh away. May we so live that upon the resurrection morn and we come to that family reunion the circle will be unbroken.

Funeral services were from the Methodist church in Kirkville, Friday afternoon, and the burial was in the West View cemetery. --------- Contributed
