I’m looking for the ancestors of my gt. gt. grandparents: Henry SHAFER and Elizabeth MYERS. Henry SHAFER (SHAFFER) b: abt 1880 in Pennsylvania, d: 12 Feb 1891 in Madison County, IA, m: abt 1830 in Indiana to Elizabeth MYERS, b: abt 1814 in Indiana, d: 25 Sep 1868 in Madison County, IA. Both bur: Bennett Cemetery, Earlham, IA. CHILDREN (all but Abner were born in Indiana): William SHAFFER (abt 1832- ), Margaret (SHAFFER) LEACH (1833 or 1835-1912), Mary SHAFFER (abt 1835- ), Charlotte (SHAFFER) BLACK (1837-1927), Martha SHAFFER (abt 1840- ), Andrew SHAFFER (1845–1937), Eliza (SHAFFER) FOGLESONG (abt 1847- ), Sarah SHAFFER (abt 1849- ), Rosannah SHAFFER (abt 1850- ), Emma Viola (SHAFER) FOGLESONG (1852-1948) who is my gt. grandmother. Abner SHAFFER (abt 1859- ) b: Madison, IA. Henry’s sister may be Lydia Susannah (SHAFER) BENNETT (1803-1877) w/o Jacob BENNETT (1795-1882) both born in Pennsylvania and buried in Bennett Cemetery, Earlham, IA. According to a published biography, Henry may have been born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania abt 21 Feb 1800, and migrated to Indiana (possibly Switzerland / Ohio Counties) then to Madison County.
