Jean M. Eivins

Jean M. Eivins, 68, died Oct. 13, 1995 at Greater Community Hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Robert L. Pickerell officiating.

Burial will be in the Moon Cemeter, Macksburg.

There is open visitation after 9 a.m. today with family visitation 7 to 8 p.m. at the Keating-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home.

Mrs. Eivins was born Aug. 17, 1927 in Adams County west of Carl to L. C. "Bud" and Lucy L. (Edwards) Peckham. She graduated from Macksburg High School in 1945. On April 21, 1946, she married Harold E. Eivins in Atchison, Kan. She was a homemaker and resident of Adair, Union and Madison counties until moving to Denver in 1954. She moved to St. Louis, Mo. in 1960, Creston in 1964, Macksburg in 1965 and returned to Creston in 1991.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, past president and member of Eagles Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Greater Community Hospital Auxiliary, all of Creston; American Legion Auxiliary in Lorimor; Hawthorne Rebekah Lodge in Macksburg, member and past president and treasurer of J. D. Craven Woman's Relief Corps #322 in Macksburg; past department president of Iowa Woman's Relief Corps along with additional offices in the department.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Jeanne (husband Arlen) Witt of Macksburg; two sons, Robert Eugene Eivins of Creston and Gail Ray (wife Shari) Eivins of Cedar Rapids; a brother, John (wife Dee) Peckham of Macksburg; two sisters, Adaline (husband Orlo E.) Wallace of Orient and Virginia Kinyon of Lorimor; and seven grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold on Jan. 7, 1987, sister Phoebe Gaidies and two brothers-in-law John Kinyon and John Gaidies.

Jean M. Eivins, 68, of Creston, died of cancer Oct. 13, 1995 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Services were held Oct. 17 at the First Christian Church in Creston with the Rev. Robert L. Pickerell officiating. Burial was in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.

She was born aug. 17, 1927, to Lucy (Edwards) and L. C. “Bud” Peckham in Adams County. She graduated from the Macksburg High School. She married Harold E. Eivins on April 21, 1946, in Atchison, Kan. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church; Eagles Auxiliary; VFW Auxiliary; Great Community Hospital Auxiliary; American Legion Auxiliary; Hawthorne Rebekah Lodge; J.D. Craven Woman’s Relief Corps. #322; and Iowa Woman’s Relief Corps.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister; and two brothers-in-law.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Robert of Creston and Gail of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Barbara Witt of Macksburg; a brother John Peckham of Macksburg; two sisters, Adeline Wallace of Orient and Virginia Kinyon of Lorimor; and seven grandchildren.
