Page 14, Column 1Dene Armstrong Dies at 86
Dene Armstrong of Earlham died May 1 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. She was 86 Years old.
The daughter of Gideon and Jenny Mark McKibben, she was born in Dallas county on August 30, 1894.
She grew up and attended country schools in the rural Earlham area. On June 13, 1917 she married Paul Armstrong in Earlham. The couple farmed in Dallas and Madison Counties.
Following the death of her husband in an automobile accident in 1964, she moved to Earlham where she lived in her home until failing health required her to make her home at the Earlham Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Mervyn of Earlham, Max of Nashville, Kansas and Gerald of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Boggs of Des Moines and Mrs. Leona Hobbs of Pasco, Washington; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Nita McKibben of Stuart.
Funeral services were held May 4, 1981 at Penn Center Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert G. Farr officiating.
Interment was at Penn Center cemetery, Madison County, Iowa.
