Lois Benge, Winterset

Funeral services for Lois Jean Benge, 67, were held January 2 at Collins Funeral Home with John Safford officiating. Mrs. Benge died December 30, 1992 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.

She was born in St Charles to Herbert and Stella (Hulbert) Martin on March 1, 1925. She married Perry Fay Benge on July 26, 1947, in Lamoni. She was a lifelong Winterset resident and was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was retired from her work at Winterset Care Center North where she was a certified medical aide.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Percy; and a sister, Audrey Speer.

Surviving relatives include a son, Pat Benge of Greenfield; three daughters, Peggy Mundell of Greenfield, Pam Brown of Winterset, and Paula Ball of Lorimor; one sister Virginia Cleland of Indianola; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
