Elinor Belle Rankin of Panora, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Panora Specialty Care in Panora, Iowa.

Family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1 PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation.

Elinor Belle Rankin was born in rural Madison County, Iowa to Earl Cashes and Hazel Pearl (Holmes) Schoonover on March 23, 1934. She married Joe Max Rankin on her birthday in 1952. They lived in the Des Moines area where she worked for Montgomery Wards, Earl May, Payless, and finally retiring from Menards. She had two sons, Gary Wayne Rankin, born November 22, 1951, and David Joe Rankin, born January 9, 1953. She spent the last years of her life living in Panora.

Elinor was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; parents, Earl and Hazel Schoonover; brother, Dale Schoonover; sister, Helen (Oren) Peterson; and both sons, Gary Rankin and David Rankin.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jannette Rankin; grandchildren, Angela White, Davin (Bret) Rankin, and Jennifer (Lyle) Schmitz; great-granddaughters, Samantha, Lola, Gabrielle, and Isabelle; nieces, Nancy (Mel) Simmons, Louise (Basil) Christophilius; and nephews, Oren (Cathy) Peterson, Denny (Lynn) Peterson, and Phillip Peterson.
