Isabel Gladys Lathrum, daughter of Harry Franklin Bryant and Lucy May Kimes Bryant was born February 26, 1916 just south of New Virginia, Iowa and passed from this life Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Winterset Care Center North in Winterset, Iowa at 105 years of age, twenty days shy of 106.

Later, the family moved south of New Virginia to Fremont Township where Isabel started school at the Fremont Country School. When her mother died on February 10, 1923, she went to New Virginia to live with her grandparents, Charley and Ella Kimes. She went on to attend New Virginia High School and graduated in 1935.

She was united in marriage to Edgar Keith Lathrum on August 17, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa by Rev. Robert Mendenall at his apartment. Three daughters, Gladys, Marjorie and Janice blessed this union.

Over the years, Isabel was involved with the United Methodist Church, the Methodist Guild, Garden Club, the Truro Kitchen Band, The Forklifters and the Natural Gas Pipeline Coffee Club. Keith and Isabel were crowned the King and Queen of Truro in 1993. Isabel loved shopping trips to Des Moines, with K-Mart being one of her favorite stops. She always finished the day at her favorite restaurant, Long John Silvers. In her spare time, Isabel played the organ and made beer can hats for her family and RAGBRAI riders. Over the years, she kept many scrapbooks and had saved all the Natural Gas Between the Lines newsletters and made books from them. She loved walking and would try to venture out every day that the weather would let her. She also did a lot of quilting, crocheting and knitting which all her family and friends benefited. Isabel especially enjoyed camping with her husband Keith through the years.

Those relatives who preceded Isabel in death were her grandparents, Charley and Ella Kimes; parents, Harry and Lucy Bryant, husband, Edgar Keith Lathrum, sister-in-law, Ruby Bryant, brother, Roy Bryant; brother, Ralph Chester Bryant, brother-in-law, Myron McNeal, half-sister, Alberta Graham, step-mother, Georgie Bryant, daughter, Marjorie Pearl Warren, son-in-law, Ronald Glenn Warren; son-in-law, Donald Eugene Brommel and son-in-law, Eldon "Bud" R Wattonville.

Isabel leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Janice Ann Wattonville of St. Charles, IA, daughter, Gladys Marie (Robert) Armstrong of Portland, OR, sister, Lois McNeal of Waukee, IA, grandchildren, Deby Martin of Oregon City, OR, Julie (Randy) Sweet of San Tan Valley, AZ, Brenda (Ron) Freeman of New Virginia, IA, Alan (Connie) Brommel of New Virginia, IA, Christy (Neil) Gurwell of New Virginia, IA, Annette Brommel of Des Moines, IA, Richie (Lori) Brommel of St. Charles, IA, Wendy (Brian) Stanley of Osceola, IA, Douglas (Wendy) Warren of California City, CA, Brian (Mary) Warren of Majave, CA, and Robert Warren of Hazelwood, MO. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home, Thursday February 10, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating.

The family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Kale Funeral Home.
