Services for David Griffith, 83 years old, of 1314 E. Walnut St., who died following a stroke, Sunday, were held at 1 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. Burial was at Worthington Cemetery, northwest of Winterset.

Mr. Griffith was a retired salesman for the Iowa Machinery and Supply Co. in Des Moines. He and his brother Uley were in the Machine and Implement Business in Van Meter years ago, and Dave’s family were all born in Van Meter with the exception of one daughter, Wanda, who was born in Des Moines.

His wife and mother of his children preceded him in death 21 years ago. He later married and lived in Des Moines until the time of his death.

Mr. Griffith was a member of the Methodist Church since childhood.

He is survived by his widow Meryl; six daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Gutshall of Van Meter, Mrs. Evangeline Miller of East Palo Alto, Calif., Mrs. Ruby Topfer of Mason City, Mrs. Elizabeth Wagoner of Pontiac, Mich., Mrs. Isabelle Odekirk of Palo Alto, Calif., and Mrs. Wanda Hein of Pomona, Calif.; three sons, Roy of Muscatine, Gail of Galesburg, Ill., and Dale of Portland, Tex.; 23 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
