Constance Kay Herrick

Constance Kay Batie Herrick (Connie) was born on May 31, 1936, in Butler, South Dakota to Rex and Esther Batie. She graduated from Webster High School in 1954, and then attended the University of South Dakota. She received a certificate to teach elementary school. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority.

Connie was married on April 21, 1957, to James Herrick in Webster, SD. From this union, four children were born; Jamie Kay, and triplets Kathy Lynn, Kelly Ann and Kristy Jo.

Connie taught school in Webster, SD, Murdock, NE, and Sioux Falls, SD. She was a homemaker after the girls were born. She was involved in many community organizations during this time. In 1992 she began working as a Senior Club Director for Union State Bank in Winterset, IA. This was a very rewarding time for her as she enjoyed being with people and taking the Senior Club members on many trips in the United States and Europe. She loved to travel and visited many parts of the world and went on several cruises. She retired in 2000 with her husband at Pickerel Lake, SD, and then settled in Sioux Falls for the rest of their retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents, Esther & Rex Batie, brother LaVerne Batie, and sisters Margie Bloom and Doris Sampson. Survivors include four daughters, Jamie Schepp, Kathy (Bruce) Stewart, Kelly (Ken) Herrick and Kristy (Neill) Roberts. Grandchildren include Andy & Maria Soper and Paige & Dylan Roberts. She had two half brothers, Dwight & Duane Batie.

Connie passed away Monday evening, November 12, 2018, at the care center of the Northfield Retirement Community at the age of 82.

Funeral services will be 9:00AM Friday, November 16, 2018, the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield. A brief reception will follow. Burial will in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Pallbearers will be Neill Roberts, Ken Handley, Bruce Stewart, Scott Johnson, Mark Szepaniak and Terry Sampson.
